Pregnancy Options

For a lot of women, finding out they are pregnant is exhilarating, but what are the pregnancy options for those who are not quite so thrilled? There are many reasons that a pregnancy may not be the best news for some women. This could include everything from being too young, unmarried, or not able to afford it. These reasons can be in any combination. Some women do not feel as if they are in the “right place” in their lives to bring a child into the world. What happens to these women?

One of the pregnancy options is, of course, to have the baby and just arrange your life to accommodate it. For most couples there is rarely a “right time” to have a baby. If you continued to wait for that perfect time, you would probably never become pregnant. The majority of women who choose this option are very pleased and happy with their decision once they have accepted it. They are never sorry they chose this path, especially once they hold their babies for the first time.

For women who simply are not in a position to support a baby, adoption is another of the pregnancy options. This can work out quite nicely when everyone involved work together. The mother can avoid any dangerous medical procedures to terminate the pregnancy and the baby will have a good home. This option is chosen more and more, especially among teenagers who find themselves pregnant. Adoption allows them to retain their health and their plans for their lives.

Couples who are suddenly facing an unexpected pregnancy generally decide to go through with having the baby and keeping it. After all, it IS their child whether it was planned or not. Of course, they may have to do some arranging in their lives to take care of child, but that’s what parenting is all about. Rarely do couples choose anything else.

One of the pregnancy options that has been used quite often in the past, and still is today, is abortion. There are many reasons that a pregnancy is best terminated, among them women who are victims of incest and rape. It is not a popular option for healthy women who are able to carry a baby to term. It is also coming more and more under fire lately with the possibility of being outlawed entirely.

It seems that the best way to not have an unwanted pregnancy is to practice effective methods of birth control. However, even those are not 100 percent effective all the time. Following the instructions of birth control methods is vital when trying to keep from becoming pregnant before you are ready. Should this happen to you, though, there are many people available to help you decide what’s best for you and your baby.
